Piauí has the smallest coast of Brazil: only 66 km, but with a lot to offer!
For those who had done the Cajueiro da Praia tour and still have time, we always recommend to spend the day in one of Luís Correia beaches. In just one day you can easily get to know a little bit of each beach from this city.
Luís Correia town
Luís Correia is the town in Piauí with the biggest part on the coast, 46 km. Maybe that is the reason why the tourism in Piauí has started in this city. The city is really famous for locals, there are a lot of different style beaches, for all tastes: from the ones that are really well prepared for tourists to practically deserted beaches.
The wind are also strong here and you can practice kitesurfing in almost all the beaches - beware of the rocks!
What do you think about having a day tour in Luís Correia?
Barra Grande is around 70 km away from Luís Correia. If you look on a map, is closer, but, due to the road and the Camurupim river, you have to do a detour.
When leaving Barra Grande, just follow the Parnaíba signs. Around 25 km outside Barra, there will be a gas station in front of a crossing: just take your right on the sigh to Luís Correia. Then all the beaches will be to your right.
Macapá
The beach, located right where the Camurupim River, has a mutant landscape, due to the time, sea and wind: a hotel has already disappeared after the sea levels got higher and part of the village was buried by the sand dunes, isolating some homeowners. But this only makes the visit even more interesting. The lagoon that is formed is perfect for kitesurfing and nature contemplation. Besides kiting, you can also practice kayaking.
Maramar
Neighbor to Macapá, the beach has a tranquil sea and lots of bars in beachfront.
Carnaubinha
Returning from Macapá/Maramar, take your right to the Carnaubinha Praia Resort. From the resort you can easily access the most beautiful part of the beach, specially during low tide.
>> Don't forget to stop by the Combed Tree, a tree that has suffered from the strong winds in Piauí
Arrombado
The desert area from Carnaubinha beach, is accessible through a dirt road on the main road to Luis Correia. Desert, great place o feel alone in the coast. There are many turtle's nest here and also some waves when the swell comes.
Itaqui
Beautiful beach where you can see a bit of every landscape of Piauí: natual pools, cliffs and white sand. You can access the beach by walking from Coqueiro beach or through the Pousada Vila Itaqui.
Coqueiro
The most known beach of Luis Correia, has lots of houses, but also has beach tents and hotels.
Peito de Moça
Another extension of Coqueiro beach, a more tranquil area, but also with some beach tents.
Atalaia
The more urban beach of town, located right next to the city center, has a lot of standardized restaurants and a nice path to run along the beach. Also offers sea experience to disabled people.
You will find beaches for evert style! Check which is more adequate for what you are looking for and enjoy a great day by Piauí's coast.
